• The members of the Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing, both on and off reserve, participated in the Land Code vote on June 22 and 25, 2011. From Kenora to Thunder Bay, Winnipeg to Fort Frances, and from all parts of Canada, the community gave a clear indication that control over land management be returned to Big Island. Over 89% approved the Land Code, effectively opting out of the land management sections of the Indian Act.
