Climate Change – Prairie Region Workshop

Target Audience:
  • Operational & Developmental Signatory First Nations
  • Land Governance Directors / Land Managers, Band Managers/CAO’s, Environmental officers/guardians, youth
This learning workshop will:
  • Discuss the fundamentals of climate science, the predicted scope and severity of climate change impacts
  • Introduce the broader context of climate change and the intersection of climate change and Indigenous rights
  • Explore the authority under the Framework Agreement in respect of climate-related plans, laws and targets
  • Promote climate-informed Framework Agreement related planning and mitigation strategies
  • Share success stories from other communities in responding to the climate emergency and experts in climate science

Travel and Accommodation:
  • Travel expenses will be provided up to $800.00 per person, PLUS up to 3 nights’ accommodation (room and tax) for THREE (3) participant per signatory First Nation to attend this session
