Objectives:
- Provide an overview of law development and law enforcement strategies under the Framework Agreement and First Nation Land Codes
- Discuss design and drafting of enforcement provisions in First Nation laws, with the goal of building community support and practical approaches to enforcement
- Review matters such as authority of enforcement officers and police, powers of inspection, offence provisions, and how a ticketing and enforcement law may work alongside other laws
- Include virtual networking opportunities for First Nations to share perspectives and approaches on law enforcement
Target Audience:
- Operational, Developmental & Signatory First Nations, Interested First Nations:
Land Governance Directors, Land Managers and Staff, Chief & Council,
Band Managers, Lands Committee Members, Elders and Youth
