JOB PURPOSE:
Provides ongoing management and coordination of developments and environmental concerns to ensure
that projects are sustainable, environmentally sound, and align with the short and long-term vision
established by our community. Working as part of a team, the Environmental Engineer is responsible
for the review, management, investigations, and assessments for new and on- going development
projects and environmental concerns on Nation.

The Environment Engineer is responsible for all or part of these areas:
• Strong project management, time management and problem-solving skills, supported by the ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the public, developers
and other ECN staff and stakeholders;
• Experience and/or related training in survey techniques, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, map
interpretation, map compilation, graphics, statistical analysis, civil infrastructure design
experience, and working in a diversified environmental background;
• Comfortable assisting and/or managing projects related to Surveys, Water and Sanitary Sewer
Services, Roads, Sidewalks and Parking, Site Grading, and Stormwater Management;
• Experience in a variety of environmental projects ranging in complexity along with the
organizational ability to juggle multiple assignments while adapting to fluctuating workloads and
deadlines;
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
• Professional, tactful, and diplomatic to various stakeholders;
• Knowledge and understanding of Reserve Lands and governance including relevant provincial and
federal legislations;
• Knowledge, understanding, and demonstrated ability to assess impacts of ongoing and proposed
developments in relation to laws/bylaws on Reserve Lands;
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant provincial and federal regulations;
• Strong ability to prepare and present reports, recommendations and briefings to the Council as
directed;
• Well-developed technical skills related to research, project design, reporting, drawings and
schematics, analytics, and documentation;
• Strong interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills;
• Reviews, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding developments and environmental concerns;
and
• Maintains the files and records of developments and other environmental projects being completed
within Planning & Development Services
• Perform other related duties upon request

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

• 10 years of experience supplemented by 5 years of progressively responsible
• experience in Environmental Engineering including Surveys, Water and Sanitary Sewer Services,
Roads, Sidewalks and Parking, Site Grading, Stormwater Management, etc.;
• University Graduation in Civil Engineering or related;
• Registration as a P. Eng. with APEGA with good standing;
• Must have valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license with clean driving record. Must be
• comfortable to drive on rural roads.
• Knowledge of First Nation guidelines, standards, and specifications and policies;
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Good organizational and time management skills;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills to diverse
stakeholders and public relations;
• Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
• Must be able to multi-task, set priorities, and plan and co-ordinate resources to meet
timelines; and
• AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS mapping experience are highly desirable assets.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Required to work from Monday to Friday 8:30pm – 4:30pm at Enoch Cree Nation Administration Office,
while adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual. Some travel and
overtime may be required.
