On Sunday, December 14, 2014, Shxwowhamel First Nation became the 53rd First Nation to ratify its community land code under the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management. With an outstanding show of community support, 95% of Shxwowhamel First Nation voters cast their ballots, unequivocally deciding to reassume control over their community’s Land Governance. Congratulations to Brokenhead Ojibway Nation who became the 52nd First Nation to ratify their community’s land code under the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management. On Saturday, December 13th, 2014, Brokenhead Ojibway Nation community members voted in favour of regaining jurisdiction over their lands and resources, once again placing control of the future of their lands, in their hands. Congratulations Brokenhead Ojibway Nation!
